The Castle of Rossena, the Rossenella Tower and the Castle of Canossa are located about 15 km from the city of Reggio Emilia. A story full of mystery figures as Pope Gregory VII and Emperor Henry IV. The Emperor went to Canossa to meet the Pope and to find an agreement. It was the year 1077 when thanks to the Countess Matilda of Canossa Pope Gregory VII and Henry IV come to a political compromise, known as “the forgiveness of Canossa.”
